A fresh beginning.

That’s what a new year represents to most people.  A chance to start anew, to bring more of what we want in life, into our lives.  And a chance to ditch some of those habits we have that we know do not serve us.

It’s exciting, and I must confess, I love the idea of fresh beginnings!  Of the possibilities that await us!

This year, I want to help you create the vision you have for your life.  Over the next while, I’ll share elements of my Whole Life Vision program with you, in order for you to create your best life.  So that you can bring the vision you have of your life, to life!

But first, I want to share this.

A woman in one of my social groups shared that she not only suffers from a few ailments, but that she is terribly unhappy.  And I mean, super, terribly unhappy.  As well, she is finding herself crying most of the time, without anything triggering the tears.  They just start falling.  Every night she is crying herself to sleep, and she can’t figure out why.

My heart goes out to her.  Life is not meant to be unhappy.  It isn’t.

Now for those of you who have been with me a while, you know that I have struggled with mild depression for as long as I can remember.  Getting the counseling I needed was huge; I recommend it to anyone struggling with depression.  I also suggested to this woman that she considers it as an option, even if depression isn’t behind her tears.

But there is more to this woman’s story that she shared, and I think it’s identical to the lives many people live.

Many of us are living a life that does not suit us.  It does not fit who we are.  So often, we chase after goals because it’s a common goal of many.  A job that looks like success.  A home that others will envy.  A relationship just to be in one.

But if any of these are not what you truly want, or in the form that you want, the happiness and joy of life just won’t be there.  And this is so heartbreaking.

The whole purpose of what I do is to help people create the lives they envision so that their lives are one of happiness and joy.

A vital part of this is to clarify what that vision is.  We’ll talk more in-depth about this next time.

First, though, we need to explore who you are.

With that in mind, I have an exercise for you.  (One of many to come!)

For this one, create a list of words that describe you, and include words that you want to describe you.  Describe the person you see yourself as, and the person you see yourself becoming.  All positive words though!  We’re not dwelling on anything negative here!

(If you’re coming up with negative words that you think actually describe you, then I’m guessing you want to change that – so choose words that are the opposite and add them to your list. Words you see yourself becoming!)

If you have trouble coming up with a good list, ask the people who know you well.  Shoot them a text or an email and ask them to reply with one positive word they would use to describe you.

Once you have that list, post it where you will see it often.  Better yet, I dare you to make a vision board with those words!  And if you do, snap a pic and send it to me, I’d love to see it!

By the way, since you’re reading this, I’d say one word that describes you is Curious.  And that’s always a good thing.

Over the next months, we will continue with more exercises.  Some will be light and fun, like this one.  Others will require a lot more effort and a whole lot of brainwork.  In the end, they will all come together, and the results will be worth it!

Will you stay with me on this?  Make that commitment now, to you as well as to me.

This is YOUR life.  Let’s make it one of happiness and joy.  And true to you.
